Discovering Meaning in the Rush of the Commute.
While commuting to work on the subway system, I began photographing fellow commuters with my cell phone. The images I photographed depicted contemporary people surrounded with all “their stuff" including iPhones, books and designer bags, participating in the humble act of commuting.
Slowly I began to see that these images contained a very important message.

At the far end of the subway car, a woman recited verses from the Bible in a loud, urgent voice. The sound startled a young boy, and his mother gently placed her hand over him in a small, protective gesture.
