Discovering Meaning in the Rush of the Commute.
While commuting to work on the subway system, I began photographing fellow commuters with my cell phone. The images I photographed depicted contemporary people surrounded with all “their stuff" including iPhones, books and designer bags, participating in the humble act of commuting.
Slowly I began to see that these images contained a very important message.

Slowly I began to see that these images contained a very important message.
I couldn’t tell whether these two women were mother and daughter or simply friends, but they seemed connected by their shared love of blue. I imagined them texting each other, the way families sometimes do now instead of walking across a room to greet someone in person.
