Goldie’s Whimsical Tea-Time:Sipping in the Afternoon Sun


Inspired by Janet Fish’s luminous still life Gold Tea Set, this painting extends her exploration of reflective surfaces into a gently whimsical narrative. I envisioned a devoted, pet‑loving family who, with affectionate ritual, carried their goldfish outdoors during picnics so she might safely experience the world beyond her bowl.

Goldie’s Special Tale


Goldie, our finned companion, in her glassy sphere, does dwell, Observing the world with wonder, in her watery citadel. No predators to startle her, nor currents that compel, She swims in tranquil circles; in the home she knows so well. With scones and clotted cream, and sandwiches cut just right, We chatter and we chuckle, basking in the light. Teacups chime with porcelain song, a melody of delight, As Goldie, in her bubble, joins the festal flight. A family's love, her shield, a fortress ever steady, Ensures her world's a haven, where threats are none and petty. For in this glass-bound vessel, her life's a merry eddy, And we, her doting kin, always at the ready. So, here's to days of leisure, where worries are but few, To Goldie's liquid haven, and skies of endless blue. May every moment shared, be sweet as morning dew, And every joy discovered, be old yet ever new.
