the goddess series

"While I was a docent at the Brooklyn Museum, I had the pleasure of seeing then First Lady Michelle Obama when she visited the museum. I remember thinking how stunningly beautiful and stately she was, but what impressed me the most was the energy and ebullience she created in the room – just by her mere presence. Years later, while I was searching for a new series to create, I remembered how powerful that moment had been. It was then I decided to paint a series of portraits of famous women who, like Michelle Obama, had accomplished great things that would ultimately uplift women and girls."
