Discovering Meaning in the Rush of the Commute.
While commuting to work on the subway system, I began photographing fellow commuters with my cell phone. The images I photographed depicted contemporary people surrounded with all “their stuff" including iPhones, books and designer bags, participating in the humble act of commuting.
Slowly I began to see that these images contained a very important message. The barriers that normally separated us were obscured; the subway car became a space of quiet compatibility. As you take in the individuals in the photographs, you begin to see our common characteristics and our unique nuances.
